Holy Cross Monastery is located at 1615 Route 9W (or Broadway), in West Park, NY 12493. Click here for a Google map.

We are on the west bank of the Hudson River, directly across the river from the Vanderbilt Mansion in Hyde Park. The monastery is near the towns of Poughkeepsie, Kingston, and New Paltz. Below are directions for reaching us by rail, by car or by plane.

By Rail:

The nearest train station to West Park is Poughkeepsie, served by both Amtrak and Metro-North railroads.

Poughkeepsie is served by Amtrak's Northeast Direct service with many trains daily. The Amtrak abbreviation for Poughkeepsie station is POU.

Poughkeepsie is also the northern terminus for Metro-North Hudson Line service and travellers coming from the New York City area by rail will generally ride Metro North. There is frequent service to and from New York's Grand Central Terminal and from the 125th Street Station of Metro North.

There are typically many taxi drivers waiting outside the Poughkeepsie station and most are familiar with Holy Cross. Taxis in this region are not metered. It is a good idea to confirm the price of the trip with your driver when you are getting in the cab.

From the station you will cross the Mid-Hudson Bridge and head north on Route 9W toward Kingston. West Park is about 15 miles north on Rt. 9W.

By Plane:

Stewart International Airport in Newburgh is the closest airport, about 40 miles from the monastery. Taxis are available though rather expensive.

Albany International Airport is about 90 miles north. A taxi from Albany would be prohibitive, but a rental car from this airport would be a pleasant drive.

The New York City airports are all about 90 miles south. Each airport has shuttle service to Grand Central Terminal where Metro-North Railroad provides frequent service to Poughkeepsie.

By Car:

We are about eight miles north of the Mid-Hudson Bridge on Route US 9W.

Take Exit 18 from the New York State Thruway (I-87) and turn east onto Route 299. Go about five miles to the end of the road where it meets US 9W. Turn left (North) and drive about five more miles into the village of West Park. The entrance to the Guesthouse is on the right side of the road (north of the post office and the Stonehedge restaurant).

If you come by I-84, exit on Route 9W and drive north toward Kingston, NY. The directions above apply when you have passed the Mid-Hudson Bridge at Highland, NY.
