As a community of prayer and worship, part of our service to the world includes the ministry of hospitality. we have been called to share the bounties that God has entrusted to us with those who seek to discover the divine presence in their lives.

The Order of the Holy Cross is an Episcopal Benedictine monastic community founded in 1884. Holy Cross Monastery, built in 1902, is nestled on twenty-six magnificent acres on the West Bank of the Hudson River. our Guesthouse is among the largest monastic retreat facilities in the Episcopal Church. Rooms are available for overnight stays so that you can join with us and explore the spiritual dimension of your life.

At Holy Cross, you enter into a time of prayer and reflection, renewal and re-creation. The hours you spend here can help you deepen your sense of communion with God, with nature and with others. And in the process, you just might find that you rediscover yourself.

Weekend retreat programs organize your retreat experience around a theme or event, and many find that focusing on a particular aspect of the spiritual life or their interests rewarding. For example, Holy Cross offers several types of meditation retreats to teach Christian meditation. We also offer guided retreats for artists interested in painting or writing. More kinestically inclined guests may be interested in building a house for Habitat for Humanity.

There is plenty to do at Holy Cross for those who wish to come on their own for individual retreat: reading, writing, prayer, meditation, worship, nature walks, and more can be part of your time here. Some spend part, or all of their retreat here in silence. Others find great meaning in conversation with other guests or members of the community.
